Case of 3rd degree thermal skin burn treated at Montgomery Animal hospital by Dr. Jeff Luetke.
Sarge is a 13 yr old male neutered golden retriever. He was treated for a thermal burn over the back. Treatment included two staged tissue debridement procedures to remove dead tissue, daily tie down bandage changes and time to allow a good granulation bed to develop. A combination of a skin advancement flap and a full thickness mesh skin graft were performed by Dr. Luetke to cover the large wound. Both procedures were a complete success. The skin graft has allowed for minimal scar tissue to form and should re grow hair. Sarge is again back to his normal self and a very happy boy. Thank you for being such a good patient.
